TTRA Texas is a not-for-profit organization aimed at improving the travel and tourism industry in Texas through education, publications and networking activities. The current board members are:   

Jose Quintana

Texas Chapter TTRA – President

Jose Quintana currently serves as President of AdventGX, a Texas Corporation located at the Texas A & M University Research Park. As a lifelong entrepreneur, Mr. Quintana has started several successful companies and has acted as consultant to many of the world's top corporations including Nokia, Sprint, Qualcomm, Frito-Lay, Schering-Plough, Disney, Lockheed, Sun Microsystems, Verizon and Novartis International.

 

He is an active board member of The Texas Lyceum Association, Westcar Consulting Group, RMS Corporation, and the Patria Group Corporation. Mr. Quintana developed the ASD (AdventGX Strategy Deployment) methodology used as the core component in AdventGX projects – ASD is also used by state agencies and corporate entities. Mr. Quintana has a computer science degree from Texas A&M University with a minor in Mathematics and Statistics.

 

Mr. Quintana brings key financial engineering and econometric modeling competencies to AdventGX as well as strong strategy deployment and project management expertise. Mr. Quintana has also done considerable work in the areas of Data Visualization, Volumetric Analysis, Geomatics, Remote Sensing – Telemetry, Data Acquisition, Strategy & Performance Support Systems, Analytics, Rural Economic Development, and Quality Function Deployment. Mr. Quintana is also proud to serve as Advisory Council Member at the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), a Texas A&M University System Agency who’s mission it to develop a skilled workforce, provide technical assistance, emergency response and economic development support. In 2009 Mr. Quintana was appointed to the Advisory council of the Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences Department at Texas A&M University. 

 

 

 

Andria N. Godfrey M.S.

 

Texas Chapter TTRA- Vice President

 

Ms. Godfrey is currently a researcher with the Office of the Governor, Economic Development and Tourism Division.  She attended Texas A&M University in Colleget Station, TX wehre she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications with minors in Anthropology and Recreatin, Park and Tourism Sciences.  After completing her degree she went on to earn a Master of Science in Recreatin, Park and Tourism Sciences also from Texas A&M University.

 

 

During her time as a graduate student, she served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant Teacher at Texas A&M University, in addition to conducint birding business research through AgriLife Extension.  Andria recently left her position with AdventGX, a tourism and economic development firm, where she managed their research and development programs. With a passion for the state of Texas and tourism, she is pleased to now be a team member in the Office of the Governor's Economic Development and Tourism Division where she provides research support for the department's programs that create economic opportunities for the state and its residents.

Dr. Jason Draper

Texas Chapter TTRA – Secretary

Dr. Dr. Jason Draper is an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. He received his Ph.D. from Clemson University’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management in December of 2009. He also holds a Masters degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University and Bachelors degree from Illinois State University.

Draper’s recent research has primarily been community and tourism development based and examined residents’ attitudes toward recreation and tourism development, tourist and residents preferences for various segments of recreation and tourism development, and the role of visiting a destination in the decision to permanently move there. Draper’s projects have been conducted to help both local community, as well as state and multi-state organizations involved in tourism.

 

Dr.Woosnam

Dr. Kyle Woosnam

Texas Chapter TTRA – Treasurer

Dr. Kyle M. Woosnam is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Recreation, Park & Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. Woosnam received his Ph.D. in Community Tourism from Clemson University and holds a Master of Science degree in Forestry from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Leisure Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Woosnam’s research focuses on relationships between residents and tourists within destinations, impacts of tourism (i.e., social, environmental, cultural, economic, and political) on local communities, resident attitudes of tourism and tourism development, and the role tourism development plays in communities experiencing shifting economies. In addition, Woosnam examines the role that individuals’ travel behaviors play in perceptions of tourism development within their own communities.
